SIP | Day 12

Thursday, 24 Sept 2009

- Had KFC.

- Wore black shirt.

I had difficulty waking up this morning, and it was all Need For Speed Shift’s fault. I was engrossed in racing in my BMW 135i till 1.15AM. haha, fun racing game. Anyhow, I had to rush in order to not miss the empty train Try was in.

Entered the office today with TaoHuay drink and youtiao. But it was rather disappointing. But I am so looking forward to buying and eating Ho Kee’s chee chiong fan tomorrow for breakfast. Jen tempted me with it, when she ate those for breakfast today.

Job duties before lunch was largely occupied with reading and responding to emails, and inquiring further about candidate’s current/previous job. Like my previous entry, I run through the series of questions for them, and update their information into our WOW database.

A sudden craving for KFC chicken lead me to ordering a Family Feast along with 3 other colleagues - Being Ernest, Wan Lin and Try. hah.

During lunch, the usual chit-chat session was entertaining. Learn that Karen was a professional champion singer, hahaha.

After lunch, I was tasked with sourcing candidates for my colleagues for their various job openings. Then placed an ad for Sales Executive. And tried to sell the position. We are looking out for 15 places for that position. MAN.

So after work, I took the train and bus to meet up my mum and got home. Baby was too lazy to meet up tonight, so I had the freedom to go to the gym. Sadly, my calf muscle tighten halfway through 3.2km. :( Geeeez.

SIP | Day 11

Wednesday, 23 Sept 2009

- Had nasi lemak for lunch.

- Wore white shirt.

The Wednesday was a normal one. As usual, I be attending to walk-in candidates, courier men and answer phone calls. And I was pretty much just responding to candidates that applied for the several job ads posted on JobsDB. So I viewed their email, vet through their resume, and call them up to inquire more about their current/previous job. Questions such as:-

  • Are they still working? If yes, why are they looking out for a new job? How long will their notice period be?
  • If they are not working, why did you leave your previous job?
  • How much are they currently drawing, what was their last drawn salary?
  • How much is their salary expectation?
  • Are they open to locations?
  • Are they open to contract roles?
  • Any specific preferences?

It’s a meaningful job, I reckon. I get to interact with a lot of people on the phone, and that is rather challenging. When you meet with nice people, it will be a smooth phone interview. But when you are faced with a rude or unfriendly candidate, things can get a little tricky. But in all, I say I am pretty much happy with internship. Yesterday was also the very first e-journal submission, and i wrote a whole lot of reflections. haha.

SIP | Day 10

Tuesday, 22 Sept 2009.

- Wore Zara black top, with striped pants.

- Had pineapple rice for lunch.

The 10th Day at work is one whereby I was tasked to handle administrative work to help out with the coming audit. I had to go through all the S.A. & E.C. and make amends in the WOW database with regards to Salary Paid, Amount to bill and the period of the contract. I also helped Kristin to place 3 ads, while managing just 1 for Sam. I am getting better at placing ads with JobsDB now, and that’s a good skill to have I reckon. Before the administrative duty, I was helping out Jen to source for 3 positions from Monster and our own WOW database. I am glad I was able to provide her with a few potential and good candidate.

Recently, every one is falling ill. Coughing, running noses, and all.  I hope everyone will be fine. =) Like how Try. reported to work today after a 6days MC. OH gees, her pay will be cut though.

After work, I was greeted with a pleasant surprise. Baby picked me up from work, and we walked to IMM for dinner @ Pepper Lunch. Hoots, thank you baby for making the effort to pick me from work. LOVES!

SIP | Day 8

Day 8’s duties were carried forward from Day 7. A continuation of a series of achievements. Today, I finally solo-ed conduct an interview. in fact, I interviewed 2 walked-in candidates. Felt super happy after the first interview. But when I was told to solo my second interview, I was even happier! I think I am finally doing more for the company. Hah, the duties I have on my first day and now is so different. I guess they are starting to have trust in my work. Yeah, I shall work even harder, to double impress, Hahahahahah. Today made me realize that in life, we really do need mentors to guide us. Like how Adecco is my mentor guiding me along in the working world. A taste of the hr world for 3 months can help prep me up for my future. hah, and I am currently doing pretty good that even my supervisor is considering to put me on a contract after I graduate, before entering army. Hoopoes! Hahahhahahaha shiok. :D felt really happy and motivated when I saw my supervisor message me how she feels currently. Anyhow, today was a good day, other than the scary fact that Adecco country manager came down to our branch for a “walk”. Thank god I attended to her when she walked on. Hahahaha. So after work, I joined my colleagues for dinner @ Buckaroooo. It was a time well spent, and it showed me the other side of life that my colleagues have after working hours. Pretty interesting to see how people behave at work and when they are off work. Gina’s pre-birthday celebration was good, and I have a video of her cutting cakes. Hah. Alright, shall go to bed now. Typing this entry on my itouch, and the feeling sure is weird. So different from my bold. But somehow I think typing on this is much faster.
